PhD Course 1 - Energy saving, decarbonisation and hydrogen as an energy vector

The seminars will be conducted in English; most will be held exclusively online, though some will also take place in person (at the Jolles Room—formerly Room 186—at DICUS). You are free to attend the online sessions either from your own workstation or by coming to Room 186, where the large screen is used. The organizer, Andrea Caneschi, will keep an attendance record. Upon successful completion of the exam at the end of each course, you will receive the corresponding certificate. The seminars will be led almost exclusively by researchers from the industrial sector. They will illustrate how research is developed in the manufacturing industry and highlight the most promising directions companies are taking regarding materials and their applications. These courses aim to broaden PhD students' knowledge of these aspects and provide insight into the work done at major companies—which may also be viewed as potential future employers. The seminars are designed to be highly accessible and illustrative, offering students a deeper understanding of basic research through the lens of applied research conducted by companies. Essentially, they provide a window into the industrial world, a perspective that is rarely available with such breadth.
